Three timeframe mistakes that muddy a clean chart
Zoom hopping, borrowed captions, and invalidation that only exists on the wrong pane — habits we correct early in training.
1. Zoom hopping mid-decision
Changing timeframe while an order ticket is open usually means the higher-frame story has not been settled. Decide the hierarchy first, then leave the working frame alone until the trade thesis is complete or cancelled.
2. Borrowed captions
Social screenshots arrive with arrows and slogans. Copying those marks onto your own panes imports someone else’s timeframe without their risk rules. Rebuild levels from the weekly down before you keep any borrowed line.
3. Invalidation on the wrong pane
A stop that only makes sense on the five-minute while the thesis was written on the daily is a mismatched pair. Invalidation should live on the same frame that justified the idea — or one carefully chosen bridge frame, stated in advance.
These three mistakes show up in nearly every intake interview. Fixing them is less glamorous than adding another oscillator, and far more useful for multi-timeframe chart reading that holds up after the open.
